Holly Davis begins her SHEQ career with MCS Group

MCS Group is supporting the next generation of construction talent with the appointment of Holly Davis as SHEQ Apprentice. Holly joined the team at the end of February 2026 and is now supporting the SHEQ department across several of our live sites.

Holly’s interest in SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) began during work experience a few years ago, where she saw first-hand how important it is to create safe, organised and efficient working environments. She was drawn to construction by the opportunity to be involved in projects that create something tangible and lasting, as well as the chance to build a career in a traditionally male-dominated industry. “It’s rewarding to be part of an industry that is becoming more diverse, where women can thrive and make a real impact,” she said. Holly was referred to MCS through a friend of a friend and came to chat with us about the role.

“What stood out to me was that it wasn’t just about whether I was the right fit for MCS, but whether MCS was the right fit for me as well,” said Holly. “They took the time to understand my goals. That approach really appealed to me.”

Holly’s responsibilities are a mix of administrative tasks, site inspections and compliance monitoring, working closely with our site teams to keep high standards of health, safety and welfare. “No two days are the same, which is one of the things I enjoy most,” Holly said. She’s also playing a central role in promoting and implementing Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) best practice across our sites, including supporting initiatives that improve site standards, encourage positive engagement with local communities and help ensure safe, environmentally responsible working practices. “I particularly enjoy the practical side, getting out onto site. Building relationships with our site staff is also something I really value, as it gives me the chance to learn from their experience.

Holly is keen to progress her skills and knowledge, and plans to complete a Level 6 NVQ to support her long-term SHEQ career. Working a four-day week gives Holly dedicated time to focus on her studies and helps her to balance work, studying and social life.

Looking back on her first months with us, Holly describes the culture at MCS as a key part of her development. “Everyone has been approachable and willing to share their knowledge, which has made it a great place to start my career, especially as a woman within the construction industry,” explained Holly. “Working for MCS has been rewarding and enjoyable, with a great supportive culture and excellent opportunities for learning and development.”
