MCS Group has completed the construction of a new national training facility for Scania (Great Britain) Limited at its UK headquarters in Milton Keynes.
The purpose-built Scania Learning Centre provides a modern training environment for the truck manufacturer’s UK workforce, helping develop the technical skills needed to service, maintain, and repair Scania vehicles across its national network.
The new facility signifies Scania’s return to Milton Keynes for the first time in 40 years, after 26 years at its previous training centre in Loughborough. It is built to equip technicians with the skills needed to work on current and future vehicle technologies, including the company’s expanding range of electric trucks.
This is our first project for Scania and Innes Building Consultancy, and it involved constructing a two-storey, mixed-use building on an existing car park within Scania’s operational UK headquarters on Delaware Drive, Tongwell.
Our team constructed 13 dedicated training rooms, high-specification offices, a canteen and a fully equipped truck service and MOT training workshop. The workshop features in-ground vehicle inspection pits, of approximately 25 metres long, to provide a practical environment for technicians to develop and improve their servicing and repair skills. Underfloor heating was installed around the vehicle pits, which required significant coordination between trades.
The building, which has an EPC A rating, combines a mix of styles, high-quality specification for the office areas and teaching rooms, with an industrial look for the more functional workshop areas.
Building on an existing car park at Scania’s headquarters meant working under our client’s watchful eye and required thorough planning to minimise disruption to daily operations.
Our team worked with Architect Cooper Cromar Limited, structural and civil engineering consultancy Woolgar Hunter and DSSR Consulting Engineers to deliver the project over a 45-week programme, completing construction in August 2026.
The new Learning Centre has now officially opened, with Scania and TRATON SE CEO Christian Levin attending the opening ceremony.
